THE CONCEPT
Andrew makes songs based on your ideas.
And sometimes he just makes songs.
But anyway, suggest something?

NEW CHAPTER
It’s been a gradual transition that wasn’t always even apparent to me, but I can definitively say now that my work will be focused more on my YouTube channel than this website. (Though a redesign is on its way that will integrate the two a bit more anyway.)
Of course, all the songs here will stay up for your enjoyment – some might even be made into videos in the near future. :) I will also continue to do commissions.
Thank you all for your support and encouragement over the years. Things are getting bigger and better and I hope you’ll stay on this magic carpet ride with me forever!

LEAVES FROM THE VINE
This is a Paid Song! Learn more…
I would like you to make an extended version of the song “Leaves from the Vine” that Iroh sings in the show “Avatar the Last Airbender”. I need it for a performance I’m doing in the spring.
Here is a link to the song that appeared in the show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFASos1G-5U
I’d like the song to follow the same feel and tempo, while staying under three minutes. Basically, I’d like the song to be as sad and as emotional as the original.
Here are the lyrics I came up with.
Leaves from the vine
Falling so slow
Like fragile, tiny shells
Drifting on the flow
Little soldier boy
Come marching home
Brave soldier boy
Comes marching home
Leaves from the wind
Flitting it seems
Turning on the breeze
Landing in the stream
Little soldier boy
Marching so far
Brave soldier boy
Is marching far
Leaves from the stream
Coasting aimlessly
O’er from bank to bank
Floating out to sea
Little soldier boy
Marching to war
Brave soldier boy
Marches to war
Leaves from the sea
Sailing helplessly
Tumbling on the waves
At the storm’s mercy
Leaves from the vine
So far from mother tree
Travelling endlessly
Into destiny
Little soldier boy
Come marching home
Please, soldier boy
Come marching home

The song is good… but your voice in this one sounds kinda raspy
ooh… very nice.
it was a little hard to “get into” the music, as it the timing either was off, or just sounded odd or whatever… Good rendition, though. Really fits the original context well.
I always loved this song from the show, and you just made it that much better!
And to Thomas Giles, I thought the tempo matched the orignal song, because the timing there was not 100% perfect, either.
I like it, so great! Though of course we don’t have Iroh’s voice it is still great!
It’s up! I was there at the performance and it was kind of hard to hear it. Now I can! =D
this actually made me cry… it reminded me of the part where Iroh bursts into tears at his son’s grave ; ^ ;
Very much evocative of the original. Beautiful work.
I think those lyrics continued the song amazingly, especially the 2nd to last verse. Bravo to the lyricist. And bravo to the performer. No I didn’t forget about you Dave- sorry I mean Andrew.
I am glad someone requested this, because I remember wishing for a longer version of it after seeing the episode, that is one of my favorite episodes and this version is wonderful.
I think ya messed up on some lyrics, but it was very pretty!
Thank you :)
Nice job. I think after the second verse or so, you might want to introduce a little layered vocal harmony, which could build until the last stanza, at which point everything would drop but the solo vocal. Just a producing thought.
i thought the style he sang it in was perfect. the song is mournful, and mournful songs don’t have a lot to them by nature. i think andrew did a wonderful job in keeping with the style of the song and keeping the original feeling from the show.
and his raspy-ish voice suited it as well because if you all remember, so was iroh’s when he sang it and that had nothing to do with him being an old man. so, andrew well done once again :) keep up the amazing work <3
I saw the skit this was used in! there was not a single dry eye in the place. it was great.
I absolutly love this version and your voice is amazing! If this was on itunes I would so buy it!!! Again, loved this A LOT!
;____;
How come when I click the download button, it doesn’t work? :(
So sad (o))))
