HIDDEN CAMERA SHOW
This is a Paid Song - get your own!
The song is a tribute to my girlfriend and our relationship and the things that we ve been through so far.
Her favorite song is the acoustic version of “New Slang” by The Shins and I want it to have the same sort of instruments that are used in that song.
A funny name that I have for her is “Granola Buttercup McFlowerchild”, this name stems from the flowery dressed she wears in the summer. She absolutely loves modern ruins which means that among other things she likes taking picture of old rusted buildings or structures and says they are “pretty” ALL the time. She’s in Art History at Mcgill University and we always joke about how she might never get a job, but still hold out hope that she’ll be a museum director; On our very first date I drove to the middle of nowhere, where we walked around aimlessly and got lost, the important part of this is that I had to carry her through large reeds where we fell and we still always talk about how funny it was that on our first date we did something so weird and still ended up together.
She s really short, 4 11 and im 6 3 so she constantly gets short jokes (from me and our friends) but she has a really great sense of humor about it and loves who she is. We are both cocky about our looks and I want that to offset the height difference if possible.
When we first started dating I found her so perfect for me that I started to ask her if I was on an elaborate hidden camera show and that I was being fooled.
She likes songs that interject a Whoaaaa at some point, not the Keanu Reeves sort of Whoa, but like they sometimes do in Beetles songs.
She is absolutely infatuated with the Montreal World Expo of 1967.
On a date, we spent an hour walking through the slush and snow trying to find the indoor skating rink in the downtown area and when we finally found it, there was a private skate reserved and the place was closing. Though we’ve talked about going to skate again we still haven’t been though it’s been around 8 months since and we’re convinced that it is the date that will never come to be.
A quirky habit that she has is that when she falls asleep I can talk to her and so long as the questions aren’t too complicated she’ll answer me and oftentimes it will yield hilarious results. I’ve asked her what color the sky is while she is half asleep and she will answer “bray” (I guess that’s blue and grey), I tend to abuse my knowledge of this quirk and have her recite the ABCs in her half sleep, she will often wake up and though she doesn’t realize what she said, she knows I was asking her stupid questions and will tell me I’m an asshole, followed up shortly after by “I love you” despite of it all.

Aww, this is the most adorable, romantic song you’ve ever written. All of the other couples who requested songs from you are probably getting jealous. I love it, and I don’t even know either of the people that this song is for.
I partially agree with Schmergo. This song is beautifully well-done and is extremely romantic. However, ‘You Love Her So Much It’s Embarrassing’ is as equally as great as this song, which is an incredible compliment to both tracks.
I’m thoroughly impressed yet again, Andrew. You seem to be great at both of the extremes; serious and funny.
That sounded almost EXACTLY like New Slang in the beginning. But because of that, it kinda didn’t sound right. Like it SHOULD’VE been New Slang that started to play, but it wasn’t.
Still, good song.
HUh, I caught this one a long time ago on your song-a-day site, and have loved it since. Nice to hear the story behind it.
Aww, this is a really sweet song. It prompts me to say “aww” at random intervals. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawww.
this was sooo pretty! if i were this girl, i’d cry xD
great job <3
“A funny name that I have for her is “Granola Buttercup McFlowerchild”, this name STEMS from the flowery dressed she wears in the summer.”
Oh the pun. It hurtssss. And I’d bet it wasn’t even intentional. ;A;
I can see the conversation between the couple whom you wrote “You Love Her So Much It’s Embarrassing” for right now:
—–
Woman: Why couldn’t he have written such a great song for US? It’s obviously because you didn’t pay him enough!
Man: Me? It was YOU who wrote the lyrics!
Woman: You’re apparently not in this wholeheartedly enough to make sure we got quality music for our wedding! I want a divorce!
—–
That’s right, Andrew. You’re breaking up couples with these awesome songwriting skills of yours. This song shows a sentimental, serious side of you that is not exhibited as well anywhere else in your work, and I think you fit the part very well. You’re a very dynamic personality. Excellent, excellent, amazing work.
(Don’t get me wrong, “You Love Her So Much It’s Embarrassing” is a good song, but this one blows it right out of the water, no contest.)
This is a very beautiful song. Very romantic. Love the story behind it as well. This is one of my favourite songs that you have done. Shoot the Zombies is till my favourite.
Tell me you love me in your sleep…
Whaa-ooo

Such a beautiful song.
I agree with the others here. You’ve gotten so much better since your marriage. :)
Awesome song. I listen to it all the time.
This song is so beautiful.
It brings a tear to my eye. :)
I am really impressed, I think the guy who requested this song is a great guy.
Andrew, you are really talented.
WOO!
basically, i’m resonating with the sadato-type here. glorious music. and the guy who commissioned you to do this is rad. i’d like to shake his hand.
i hope they’re still together :)
i love this song…so sweet…it’s a wonderful idea andthe people it was writtenfor are very lucky
:). nice one. romantic as well. =].
<3 so sweet
Makes me smile again. Hope they r still together:)
I’m not an emotional person, but this song brought me to tears
At the risk of sounding like Yoda (always a good thing in my opinion) - this song brings warm feelings to my heart
I stumbled across this a week ago.
I forgot the title.
So I went through all of you other songs to find this.
That’s how good it is.
Oh my god how did I not notice that this was re-released on “Summer” as “1997″? Granted, I also managed to miss “In the Sun” from way back when too.
Still, that has to be a major boon to the requester that this song was good enough to release f’reals.
