If you send me any material that is copyrighted to you - for example, lyrics - you retain the rights, but are granting me permission to use them in the song you request, and to sell the song on CDs or as a digital file. The majority of songs I'm commissioned for cost somewhere between $100 and $300 per minute of music.

The style of music, the length of the song, and in some cases, the due date.
